Summary: An analysis of more than 5,000 confirmed private-party RV sales reveals a median selling timeline of 69 days, with notable differences among RV types.
OMAHA, Neb., Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- How long does it really take to sell an RV? New research from National Vehicle, a nationwide private-party RV advertising company, offers fresh insight into that question. After analyzing 10,991 RV listings and 5,174 customer-confirmed sales over a two-year period, the company found a median selling timeline of 69 days among RVs confirmed sold.
The research, covering October 2024 through September 2026, provides a closer look at a segment of the RV marketplace that receives relatively little attention in traditional industry reporting: privately owned RVs being advertised for sale.
Selling Timelines Vary by RV Type
While the overall median was 69 days, National Vehicle identified meaningful differences among major RV categories.
Class B motorhomes recorded a median selling timeline of 60 days, followed closely by Class C motorhomes at 61 days. Fifth wheels reached a median of 69 days, while travel trailers took approximately 74 days. Class A gas and diesel motorhomes recorded longer median timelines of 80 days.
The findings suggest that RV type can influence selling timelines, although individual outcomes vary based on pricing, condition, presentation, and buyer demand.
Among the confirmed sales analyzed, approximately 61% were recorded as sold within 90 days, while more than 80% reached confirmed sale within six months.
Bringing Greater Visibility to Private-Party RV Sales
Much of the RV industry's published market information focuses on manufacturer shipments, dealership inventory, and wholesale activity. National Vehicle's research examines the experiences of private owners advertising their RVs for sale.
"Selling an RV is a significant decision, and one of the first questions owners ask is how long the process will take," said Kevin Tadlock, President of National Vehicle. "Our goal is to provide sellers with meaningful information based on actual customer-confirmed sales, helping them establish realistic expectations and make more informed decisions."
The company plans to continue examining its marketplace data to identify trends in selling timelines and other factors affecting private-party RV owners.
About the Research
National Vehicle analyzed 10,991 RV listings created between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2026, including 5,174 customer-confirmed sales. Selling timelines were measured from the original listing date to the date National Vehicle recorded the RV as sold, generally within days of the actual transaction.
The results represent confirmed sales among National Vehicle customers, not all advertised RVs or the entire U.S. private-party RV market. They should not be interpreted as the probability that an individual RV will sell within a particular timeframe.
